Is Tapee Tea Safe? Understanding the Warning Before You Buy
Before buying Tapee Tea, you need to know what is in the product and whether its ingredients are suitable for you. A 2023 US FDA warning reported undeclared medicines in a product sold as Tapee Tea. This guide explains what the FDA found, what separate Sirilife tests found and what to do if you have already used the tea.

What happened in 2023?
On 31 August 2023, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned consumers about Tapee Tea. Its laboratory had found two medicines that were not listed on the product label. The notice named tapeeteausa.com and tapeetea.com as websites promoting the product for pain relief.
The medicines were dexamethasone, a steroid, and piroxicam, an anti-inflammatory painkiller. The FDA advised people not to purchase or use the product named in its notice.
This is why online answers can seem contradictory. Some pages refer to the FDA warning, while others show later laboratory reports for Sirilife samples. The reports do not withdraw the FDA’s finding, and the FDA notice does not identify every batch currently on sale.

Why do undeclared medicines matter?
Medicines can be safe and useful when they are prescribed and clearly labelled. The danger here is that a customer buying a herbal drink would not know they were also taking a steroid or painkiller. They could then combine it with another medicine without understanding the dose, side effects or interaction risk.
Piroxicam belongs to the same broad family of anti-inflammatory painkillers as ibuprofen. These medicines can cause serious stomach problems, including bleeding, and taking more than one can increase the risk. That matters if you already use pain relief for the problem that led you to look for Tapee Tea.
Steroids bring a different risk. After regular use, stopping suddenly can sometimes be unsafe. NHS guidance on dexamethasone explains why some people need to reduce the dose gradually. If you may have taken an undeclared steroid, ask a healthcare professional how to stop safely instead of trying to taper the tea yourself.
Which Tapee Tea does Tranquil Siam sell?
We sell the Sirilife product made by Thai Rice Herb Co., Ltd. in Khon Kaen, Thailand. Its official English name is Thephi Herbal Drink. Our shop uses the familiar name Tapee Tea, while its packaging and documents may show Thephi and Sirilife.
Its Thai food serial number is 40-2-02861-6-0027. You can use the Thai FDA product record to check the product identity. Registration identifies the food product, while the laboratory reports below concern tests on submitted samples.
We stock soluble powder sachets and herbal filter bags. If you are comparing a pack with a test report, check the brand, format, batch number and ingredient panel. Similar-looking packaging alone does not prove that two products came from the same batch.
What do the Sirilife laboratory reports show?
The 2023 report records that two steroids, dexamethasone and prednisolone, were not detected in the Sirilife sample tested. It was issued by Regional Medical Sciences Center 7 in Khon Kaen. The amended report is numbered R2718 and dated 6 September 2023.
A later Eurofins report page, dated 26 May 2025, records that dexamethasone was not detected in another Sirilife sample. These results provide information about those samples. Neither displayed result covers piroxicam, the other medicine found in the FDA investigation.
The images below let you inspect the documents yourself. Our steroid-testing guide explains the report numbers, sample dates and the letter replacing an earlier 2023 report in a direct side-by-side comparison.
The documents also have limits. We only have the first page of the two-page Eurofins report, and we have not confirmed the copies directly with the laboratories. The available paperwork does not show that every current pack comes from a tested batch, so it cannot guarantee every pack is free from undeclared medicines.

Could the listed herbs be unsuitable for me?
Yes. Even if every ingredient is correctly listed, the 15-herb Sirilife blend may not suit everyone. It contains licorice, for example, and any ingredient can be a problem for someone with an allergy, a relevant health condition or a medicine interaction.
Licorice deserves particular attention if you have high blood pressure or a heart or kidney condition because it can affect blood pressure and potassium levels. NCCIH’s licorice information explains the risks and medicine interactions.
Before using this multi-herb drink alongside regular medicines, ask a pharmacist to check the complete formula. Seek advice before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding too. Our ingredient guide gives the full published list and an image of the manufacturer’s profile to help with that conversation.

What if I have already used Tapee Tea?
If you think your product matches the FDA warning, contact a healthcare professional promptly. Show the notice and your packaging, and explain how long you have taken the product. Include your other medicines so they can assess both possible interactions and whether you need advice about stopping.
This is especially important after regular use because stopping an undeclared steroid may need medical supervision. Do not switch between suspect products or guess at a smaller daily amount. Take the packet and the FDA notice to the professional advising you.
Get urgent medical help for severe abdominal pain, vomiting blood, black stools, chest pain, fainting or breathing difficulty. For an order question without urgent symptoms, keep the packet and order reference available. They help identify the product while the health question is assessed separately.

Help with a Tranquil Siam order
Email [email protected] with your order number if you need help identifying a pack or raising a concern. Include a clear photo of its label and batch details where possible. We can then discuss the particular item you received, rather than relying on a general product name.
Our returns policy provides a 30-day window for eligible unused, unopened goods in their original packaging. Contact us before returning an item. If your concern involves a reaction or possible undeclared medicine, get health advice promptly rather than waiting for an order query to be resolved.
Before purchasing, read the published ingredients alongside the testing documents. The first shows Sirilife’s declared formula; the second explains what the laboratories found in specific submitted samples.
