How to Prepare Tapee Tea: Sachets and Tea Bags
Both Sirilife formats start with one individual serving and 200 ml of hot water, followed by a 2–5 minute standing time. Their methods differ: soluble powder is stirred into the cup, while an intact filter bag steeps and is removed.

Identify your individual serving
Soluble sachets and filter bags can look similar at a glance, but they are built for different methods. Open the soluble sachet and pour its powder into the cup; the wrapper does not go into the water.
The tea-bag format holds the botanical material inside a porous filter. Keep it sealed throughout steeping, then remove the complete bag.
Current retail packs contain 25 soluble sachets or 30 filter bags. If you keep both formats at home, leave them in their original packs so the correct directions remain easy to identify.
Make the soluble version
You will need one 3 g soluble sachet, 200 ml of hot drinking water, a cup and a spoon. Choose a cup with a little extra room above the water line so you can stir comfortably without spilling.
Tear open the individual sachet and empty its contents into the cup. Add the hot water, then stir thoroughly, including around the bottom where powder can collect. Set the drink aside for 2–5 minutes and allow it to cool to a comfortable temperature.
These directions come from the Sirilife sachet label and product profile shown below. The older label depicts a five-sachet pack; the method remains one 3 g sachet in 200 ml of water. Current retail packs contain 25 servings.
If fine material settles at the bottom of a soluble cup, give it another gentle stir before sipping. The same spoon can mix in a little honey or sugar if you prefer a sweeter drink.
- 1 serving
- One 3 g soluble sachet.
- 200 ml
- Hot water.
- 2–5 minutes
- Stir, let stand, then allow to cool comfortably.
Make the filter-bag version
Put one intact tea bag in the cup and add 200 ml of hot water. Allow 2–5 minutes for the infusion, then remove the bag. Let the drink reach a comfortable drinking temperature before taking the first sip.
The tea-bag label gives the water amount and brewing time but does not specify an exact temperature. Use hot drinking water, and follow your current packet if its directions differ from the label shown here.
For your first filter-bag cup, set a timer for two minutes and check the flavour. You can leave it longer within the stated 2–5 minute range if you prefer. Once you find a time you enjoy, use that as your starting point for the next serving.
Remove the bag at your preferred point within the 2–5 minute range and place it on a small dish before discarding it. Each bag is one serving unless your current packet states otherwise.

- 1 bag
- Keep the filter intact.
- 200 ml
- Hot water.
- 2–5 minutes
- Steep, remove the bag and allow to cool.
Cup size makes a noticeable difference
A large mug can hold much more than the documented 200 ml serving. Filling a 350 ml mug to the top with one portion will produce a noticeably lighter drink.
Measure 200 ml once and note the level in your usual cup. That gives you a quick visual guide for consistent servings without changing your everyday mug.
For a gentler cup, dilute the prepared serving with a little extra water. If 200 ml looks lost in your usual mug, a smaller cup can also make the serving feel more satisfying.
A few serving ideas
Taste the prepared drink plain first. For a sweeter cup, stir in a little honey or sugar while it is warm, building the sweetness gradually.
For a brighter variation, add lemon or lime after brewing. Citrus brings acidity as well as aroma, pairing well with a little sweetness or giving the drink a sharper finish on its own.
For an iced variation, prepare the drink with hot water first and let it cool before adding ice. Because melting ice softens the flavour, make any final honey or citrus adjustment after the drink is chilled.
If you try milk or an unsweetened milk alternative, add a small splash to the prepared drink. Keep citrus and dairy experiments separate because acidic juice can cause milk to separate. Choose the addition for the flavour you enjoy.

Keep the remaining servings ready
Store the unopened servings in their closed pack, away from moisture, sunlight and excessive heat, following the storage information on the current label. Keep dry portions away from a steaming kettle so they do not become damp before use.
The older sachet label shown here says one sachet a day. Follow the daily-use directions on your current format as well as its separate 2–5 minute preparation time.
